Rules of dropping things

1 - no matter what colour your carpet, whatever you drop will instantly change colour to match.
2 - you won't find what you dropped, but you will find whatever it was you dropped last time.
3 - you can't beat this by casually dropping something else in order to find what you really wanted.
4 - you will spend five times longer looking for it than it takes to make a new one.
5 - when you've made a new one, the original one will re-appear.
6 - you will find the tiniest piece of swarf (stuck into your hand) but you still won't find what you dropped.
